The Wasatch

Fatemeh Fakhraie

When I was younger
these craggy peaks
felt confining
like pushy uncles

Now they're comfortable bluffs
older and more steadfast
than the hospital or elementary school
that were razed away

Every visit feels like a pilgrimage
even if I don't visit
every shrine
